Nam Tran

I have over 20-year experience in manufacturing operation and business management, and am competent in business planning and consulting work. With strong backgrounds in finance & accounting and manufacturing operation I was senior manager with multinational companies in Australia. I am recognised for being a committed team player and a straight shooter and always prepare going all the way to deliver good results.
Having been in Vietnam for six years in my endeavour to develop trading and business investment programs for Australian and local, I have built up a good contact networks in areas of education, construction, transportation, government, and manufacturing. And, recently I have joined the Advisory Council of Australia - Vietnam Trade Commission (Austrade of the Australian Embassy). In this capacity I will work as advisor to Austrade on development of bilateral relationship and strategies which identify commercial opportunities and challenges for Australian businesses in the Vietnamese market.
High on my business development agenda in Vietnam is “to bring Australian education to the Vietnamese public”; this explains why I have accepted the teaching offer by RMIT Interna-tional University in the first instance. I am currently teaching two “soft-skills” courses: Leadership & Management and Business Case Study (Organization Theory), and doing corporate training when ever am required.
Research capability is not the my strongest competence, therefore I’m not contemplating to become a “top” researcher at this University. By sitting on the Research Taskforce I can offer the team the following supports:
- identifying sources of funding through my local contact and overseas network;
- finding leverage opportunities with other research institutes or industrial organizations;
- strategy development;
- project management;
- organization planning;

Cheers,

Nam
